Program Schedule (click on title to register):
Getting to Know: Thanksgiving Herbs
11:00-12:00
$15/adult
Savory Thanksgiving dishes feature some of the farm’s smallest, but most potent crops: herbs! Join Stone Barns Herbs and Flower Manager, Shannon Algiere on a guided herb walk through our drying shed and terrace garden to learn about how we preserve herbs for the cold season and which herbs pair best with Thanksgiving dishes. After visiting the gardens, head back to the Hay Barn to put together your own bouquet garni (herb bundle) just in time to spice up your Thanksgiving dishes.
Diary of a Pet Turkey
11:30
Free (no registration necessary)
Join author Joanne F. Ingis as she reads from her latest book, Diary of a Pet Turkey, a storybook that chronicles the adventures of a wild turkey who gets adopted by a young girl! Meet the author and get your very own signed copy of the book after the reading.
Hands on: Turkey Feeding
1:00-2:00pm
$7/child and $7/adult
Visit our pasture-raised turkeys and learn about their lives at Stone Barns Center. Pitch in and help us feed them grain and get them gobbling!
Ages 2+
Beeswax Candle-Making Class
11:00-1:00
$35/participant
Decorate your Thanksgiving table with beeswax candles you made yourself! All summer long Stone Barns Beekeeper, Dan Carr, has been diligently saving wax from our hard-working bees. Learn how Farmer Dan saves and cleans beeswax and how that beeswax can be put to good use. Marina Marchese will demonstrate how to melt and mold beeswax candles and lead class participants in making their own honeycomb candles to take home for the Thanksgiving table.
Ages 6+
Four-Season Field Walk
12:30-1:30pm
$7/participant
Every year Thanksgiving tables are filled with the bounty from the season’s harvest, but we celebrate the holiday at a time when the field is hunkering down for the cold weather. Take a stroll into our four-season field and learn first-hand how our field foreman, Zach Wolf, stores fall veggies and readies the field for winter.
Ages 9+
Holiday Tablescaping with Stylists from Martha Stewart Living

All About Roasting: Molly Stevens

Looking for some tips to wow your friends and family at the Thanksgiving table this year? Molly will discuss techniques for perfecting your roast turkey and recipes for holiday side dishes (everything from classic roast potatoes to winter squash and apples) from her brand new cookbook, “All About Roasting.” You’ll learn that there is more to roasting than meets the eye.
