The Rockefeller Brothers Fund and Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture present the Winter Pocantico Forum:

How Many Species Will Survive the 21st Century?

A Talk by Dr. Peter Raven
President of the Missouri Botanical Garden and George Engelmann Professor of Botany at Washington University

Described by TIME magazine as a "Hero for the Planet," Dr. Peter Raven champions research around the world to preserve endangered plants and animals and is a leading advocate for building a sustainable environment. In 2001, Dr. Raven received the National Medal of Science, the highest award for scientific accomplishment in the United States.

Dr. Raven will speak on the necessity of redoubling our efforts for sustainability through the creation of parks and reserves, attempting to preserve species outside their native habitats, and fostering the survival of species in areas that are greatly altered. In these and other ways, we can hope to maintain biodiversity. Species can only survive over the long term in a sustainable world. It all depends on us!

A short reception will immediately follow Dr. Raven's talk.

Space is extremely limited.
