If you have scheduled or are interested in scheduling a field trip, please join us for a getting-acquainted tour of Stone Barns. The one-hour tour will focus on the seasonal sustainable farming practices at Stone Barns, and will include a walk through the pastures to visit the sheep and chickens, a walk through the growing fields, herb garden and dooryard garden, and a visit to our four season greenhouse. Winter/Spring Teacher Workshops: Curriculum Connections

Growing School Gardens to teach Health, Wellness & Sustainability
Co-sponsored by Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture and P/NW BOCES Center for Environmental Education

This workshop series, examines the phases of developing and maintaining a school garden, engaging students and community members in growing food, and integrating classroom curriculum. Participants will learn how to plan and plant a garden using sustainable agriculture methods, harvest produce, and weave lessons into existing curriculum, while connecting to New York State Standards. Practical tips and hands-on activities will be included in each workshop.

Growing School Gardens to teach Health, Wellness & Sustainability, Part 4

The Food, Land and People Project (FLP) is a 15-hour course for 1 in-service credit that will explore integrating hands-on activities about health, wellness and sustainability across the curriculum.
FLP is a nationally implemented supplemental curriculum that investigates the interrelationships among agriculture, the environment and people of the world.
