Vic Grund, Livestock Volunteer
Vic Grund and his wife Joan began volunteering at Stone Barns when the Center first opened three years ago. While Joan’s background as a teacher drew her to Stone Barns’ education programs, Vic’s love of gardening led him to the farm. After working in the greenhouse for two years, Vic became interested in the livestock program while assisting at the weekly Farm Market. He can now be found selling meat and eggs at the market every Wednesday. He enjoys meeting and interacting with visitors, noting that “people really appreciate the market.”
Vic also supports Stone Barns’ annual turkey harvest, which he calls “a tremendous learning experience.” He describes the process as long—it lasts from early morning until late at night—but very rewarding. So look for Vic when you pick up your Thanksgiving bird this year!
We are grateful that Vic and Joan share their time and talents to help the Center grow!
