Herbal Sun Tea

This summer beat the heat with refreshing, herbal sun tea. Here is a simple way to enjoy seasonal herbs and flowers and harness the power of the sun, instead of turning your stove on.

Some herbs to consider:

Mint (the many varieties!)
Anise Hyssop
Chamomile flowers
Lemon Verbena (blends well with others, too!)
Tulsi Basil
Elderflowers
Sage
Rosemary
Hibiscus flowers

Measurements:
Approximately 1/4 cup of fresh herbs per cup of water.
For a half gallon: 2 cups of fresh herbs to 8 cups water.
For a full gallon: 4 cups fresh herbs to 16 cups water.

Place herbs in a glass container of your choice.

Cover herbs and fill container with water (not-boiled!), cover with a secure lid and shake container well.

Place container outdoors, in full sun, for 5-8 hours, depending on how strong you’d like your tea. If you need to, you can move the container to follow the sun as it moves.

Pour over ice and enjoy!
