Rising high school juniors and seniors: Do you enjoy working through complex ideas and learning through experience? Are you passionate about food and cooking, and interested in advocating for a healthier food system?
If so, join us at the Stone Barns Center Summer Institute for a two-week, delicious and mind-opening exploration of food and farming.
Summer 2018 dates:
Session I: Weekdays, June 25-July 6 (no session July 4); $1,357 Members / $1,510 Non-Members
Session II: Weekdays, July 9-July 20; $1,508 Members / $1,675 Non-Members
During this summer program for high school students, we will use the fertile ground of Stone Barns Center to explore food culture, food and the environment, and the good food movement. Learn about sustainable agriculture from Stone Barns Center farmers and farm apprentices.
The Summer Institute is more than your typical summer camp experience. Sample topics include:
• Experience farm-fresh flavors while cooking a Mindful Meal with produce straight from the fields
• Examine the integral connections between farm health and human health
• Explore sustainable farming practices like beekeeping, grazing, mushroom inoculation, seed saving and management of the food waste stream
Stone Barns Center is committed to making our Summer Institute available to all interested students, regardless of ability to pay. Full scholarships are available for students who qualify for free or reduced-price school lunch. Additional financial aid may be available; please contact email@example.com.
Thank you to all our generous Stone Barns Summer Institute Scholarship Fund donors and supporters!
