About the turkeys raised at Stone Barns

  • Known for their larger size and greater breast width, Broad Breasted Bronze turkeys are a fast-growing hybrid. It is one of the dominant birds on the market and the turkey with which most Americans are familiar. (Over 99% of the turkeys consumed in the United States are Broad Breasted breeds.)
  • Stone Barns Broad Breasted Bronze turkeys are not the same as those raised on factory farms and destined for the supermarket. Here, they roam the pastures and eat a diverse diet of fresh grass, grains, seeds, insects and worms, as well as 100% non-GMO feed.
  • Harvested at about 14-16 weeks of age, Broad Breasted breeds typically weigh 16 to 24 pounds.
