Breeding for Flavor: A New Blueprint for the Food System

This session of the Young Farmers Conference was live streamed on Friday, December 7th, 2018 at Stone Barns Center.

Breeding for Flavor: A New Blueprint for the Food System

Long before chefs conceive a dish, and even before farmers plant their fields, plant breeders write the recipe for our ingredients: what they look like, what they taste like, how they perform in the field and the marketplace. Join chefs, growers and breeding experts at the table for a conversation spanning seed, field and kitchen. The panel will discuss new models for engagement seeking to develop delicious ingredients to meet the challenges of the future and will share vegetable varieties inspired by these conversations.

Speakers: Vera Fabian, Matthew Goldfarb, Myra Manning, and Andrea Reusing
