Changing Climate, Changing Research: Exploring Agroecology through Participatory On-Farm Research

This session of the Young Farmers Conference was live streamed on Thursday, December 6th, 2018 at Stone Barns Center.

Changing Climate, Changing Research: Exploring Agroecology through Participatory On-Farm Research

There are a plethora of challenges facing farmers, many of which are tied to a changing climate. Given the firsthand experiences and insights of farmers, it is critical that their perspectives are included in research efforts, such as that on climate change adaptation and resiliency strategies. Join us for a discussion examining the role of researchers, farmers, non-profits, and other actors in shaping an inclusive agroecosystem that seeks to equitably extend across disciplines and bodies of knowledge. The session will draw on the perspectives of a University researcher and beginning farmer, along with the backgrounds of attendees, to explore how formal and informal participatory research can influence the future of land- based livelihoods and agroecology.

Speakers: Victor Izzo and Alisha Utter
