Marketing & Communications

Martha Hodgkins

Martha Hodgkins is communications director at Stone Barns Center. Her commitment to sustainable agriculture grew out of her work in conservation and a deep respect for wildlands and the natural world. At The Nature Conservancy, she held positions as magazine editor, communications manager and staff writer. She also served as director of communications at the Forest Stewardship Council-US, and has worked on communications and fundraising projects for The Wilderness Society, Island Conservation and World Wildlife Fund. Previously, Martha worked in development at the National Academy of Sciences and with member organizations at the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She currently serves on the board of the Local Food Hub, serving central Virginia. Martha holds a B.A. in English from Sewanee, the University of the South.

At Stone Barns Center, Martha works to connect people not only with our work, but also with the larger issues surrounding food and agriculture today.

On the side: Martha escapes to the wilds whenever she can, but not nearly enough, by raft, canoe or on foot.
