Evan Domsic
Senior Researcher and Crops Farmer
Evan is the Senior Researcher and Crops Farmer at Stone Barns Center. Before joining Stone Barns, he earned a Ph.D. in Crop Science at Washington State University, where he studied the relationships between cropping systems, soil health, plant nutrition, and human health. Earlier in his career, he managed the farm at SingleThread Farms in Healdsburg, California, and served as an instructor with the Center for Agroecology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he earned a B.A. in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Agroecology.
Drawing on more than a decade of experience as a farmer, researcher, and educator, Evan's work sits at the intersection of plant breeding, soil science, seed sovereignty, and agriculture's role in a changing climate. He is interested in improving the resiliency of our agriculture through improved crop varieties, thoughtful management practices, and research that supports farmers.
Off the farm, Evan enjoys baking, preserving, fermenting, and brewing just about anything he can get his hands on. His favorite way to spend an evening is harvesting produce from the farm to cook a meal for loved ones.
